DEMIS CAMACHO
MANAGING ATTORNEY
Demis Camacho's passion for immigration law was ignited during his time in his law school's immigration clinic, where he achieved remarkable milestones. His dedication was evident as he successfully represented an asylum seeker and contributed significantly to the Ninth Circuit project, where he skillfully argued a federal appeals case involving intricate immigration issues. In 2019, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western State College of Law with an immigration law certificate, solidifying his knowledge in the field.
Building on his invaluable experience gained at the immigration clinic, Demis joined Catholic Charities of Orange County as their sole removal defense attorney. Spearheading the removal defense department enriched our managing attorney's skill set immensely. During his tenure, he handled a wide range of cases, including Special Immigrant Juvenile cases, both affirmative and defensive asylum cases, representation in removal proceedings, citizenship and naturalization matters, probate proceedings involving guardianship petitions, applications for adjustment of status and family petitions, U-Visas, and certifications from law enforcement agencies, among others.
Subsequently, Demis transitioned to serve Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project as one of their staff attorneys within the National Qualified Representative Program, funded by the Executive Office of Immigration Review. His role involved representing noncitizens in removal proceedings, specifically those found incompetent by immigration judges. This challenging task required him to develop a nuanced and technical skillset. Following a promotion to Senior Staff Attorney, our managing attorney took on a substantial caseload of Post-Conviction Relief matters at a prominent private firm. Here, he achieved a track record of successfully vacating convictions in state criminal courts.
With this diverse and extensive background, our managing attorney possesses the expertise and acumen to handle complex removal defense cases, including comprehensive representation for individuals facing crimmigration issues and in need of Post-Conviction Relief.
